I read about other dak owners in all these other states meeting up and comparing daks, hanging out and having a hell of a good time. When is Massachusetts and in neighboring New England states going to have a little get together? Anyone?

Framingham? Im down 128 in Norwood. I see a few R/Ts done up every once in awhile, but your right - Other than that I see a lot of plain-jane stock Daks.

I have an '01 QC 4x 4.7, Flowmaster dual, (not so)cold air intake, R/T rearsway bar, etc. Few treats for the eyes include the streetscene facia, Toyo Proxes S/T's

I think MA needs a meet

I'm out in New Salem, near the Quabbin reservoir (about half hour from Monson). Gearing up for the New Hampshire NASCAR race right now, then a weeks vacation at Lake Winnepesaukie. Kind of booked up for next couple months actually. I think a lot of these meets have revolved around 1/4 mile tracks, nearest for us is N.H. or N.Y. I've got a large yard out in the country with lots of parking, if there's interest in just getting together for a barbecue and comparing rides I could volunteer my place, maybe one of the first couple weekends in October ? Let me know if that works for anyone, I'm fairly central to most of New England.

Get this crap. I take my truck in for State inspection today and I pass with flying colors, except they decided to fail me because my exhaust is "louder than stock." Now I have to go to the RMV tomorrow to see if a RMV inspector will sign off on it, or else I'm going to have to "fix it and get it reinspected." So, I was a bit perturbed about the whole thing until I came home only to find out that there is no "official" exhaust noise (decibel) limit in Mass. It's simply up to the discretion of the person inspecting it. When I saw that I became madder than I have in a looooooong time. I just love knowing that every other car/truck out there on the road has some kind of exhaust or intake and these guys decide to fail me. Thanks a lot, jerks.

What exhaust noise has to do with an Emissions/Safety inspection is beyond me. Yes, you read that correctly, I failed EMISSIONS/SAFTEY because of EXHAUST NOISE is "louder than stock." Not "too loud," or "excessively loud," or "obnoxiously loud," (not that those reasons would be acceptable to fail someone for an emission/safety inspection, either) but "louder than stock." Next year when I go in for state inspection I'm asking them flat out before I pay the fee and pull into the inspection bay, "Hey, are you guys going to fail me because I have a Gibson exhaust?" Any answer other than "No way." will result in me finding another shop until I find one that won't jerk me off like this.

Anyway, if the RMV inspector fails me tomorrow, I guess I'll have to swap my original intake on (have Intense Performance intake, currently). I figure that should get it quiet enough for those jokers. Sorry 'bout the rant, but this pissed me off like you would not believe. Subjective laws are FU*KING STUPID. Either have a decibel limit or leave it alone. "Discretion of the inspector" my butt.

Hey android287, I've probably seen you around if you're in S Hadley. Anything about your truck that makes it stand out that might jog my memory of seeing it? The other Daks out here that I can think of are a Red Dak with dual-exhaust and a hoodscoop. A silver QC with a nice campershell painted to match and a checkered flag decal; and a Blue QC with dual-exhaust and hoodscoops. I'm running around in a silver QC with a single in/out Gibson (see above rant).

The dude. Black standard Cab 2003. Its a 4x4 with no badges. Nothing that will stick out. Got some mods though.

Listen to this. I got failed because i had that trim around my licence plate that the dealer put on. I had to go home and take it off and drive back. The reason they did this was some big wig inspectore was there and this garage just started doing inspections again

I now know a couple places that will pass almost any truck as long as it looks bad ass. But shhhh

Hear that

Dude,
I always go to the same small time shop that I have been using for years just to avoid the BS like that - My thing is I dont run with a front plate because I had a street scenes facia put on - Like hell Im drilling thru that for a sh@t a$$ front license plate. So I just zip-tie it to the front grill...cut it off as soon as the sticker is on. I used to have a jacked up jeep - The would bust me for the brushguards around the lights and for the frame around the lic.plates too, but never for having tires stick out 3+ inches past the wheel wells. If you ask me its all a bunch of crap and a way for the state to squeeze more money out of us over taxed working class jerk offs. My suggestion would be find a garage where the guys are all in to cars (especially older ones with BIG LOUD pipes) and go there- They are less likely to bust your nuts.

Well, everything is officially fu*ked. I got off the phone with the RMV inspector and he told me that anything besides stock is illegal if in the eyes of the inspector (which includes police) it produces more sound than a stock system. No decibel level, nothing.

I asked him about every other car/truck I see running around with an exhaust system and his response was basically, "The police will get them sooner or later." What the hell kind of state is this? We can't even enjoy our cars and trucks beyond what they come with from the factory now? I'm so pissed about this and on top of it, I don't even know what I'm going to do to fix it. I've been running around with exhaust on my truck for 2+ years now and all of the sudden I'm being told it's illegal, even though it's never been an issue before.

Dude - I used to live in Amherst; I could suggest a good place in a neighboring town too if you post e-mail. If you ever need an honest mechanic, Phil Jenks is pretty good, across the street from the Sunoco station on 116 in Sunderland, but he doesn't do inspections. Good luck.

Okay. The exhaust thing was worked out. Reinspected. Passed. I'll leave it at that.

Now, anyone that lives in Western Mass. I have another question. I have Richmond 4.10 gears in the mail. Do any of you know of a shop that does rear-diffs in this area? And do you know of any shops that do rear-diffs and are very good at it in this area? Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, my Torq-Thrust STs (18x8.5) came in. Wrapped in Toyo Proxie ST 255/55R18 109V.
