Subject: Who's happy with their 3.7L? IP: Logged
Message: Just wondering who's happy with their 3.7L Dakota? I love mine. It's a blast to drive and I'm extremely pleased with the amount of power. It'll actually keep up with cars and trucks that my 99 3.9L 5sp couldn't have, without having to give it much throttle at all.

Message: Right now I have an 02 RC 3.9L that doesnt keep up with anything. I am thinking of trading it in later this month for an 04 CC 3.7L. How does yours do on gas? Mine gets about 18mpg at best. I figured that the 4.7 would probably do worse on gas and only gets about 20HP more then the V6. Have you done any mods to yours yet?

Message: I believe there is a thread much like this running in the V6 message board. I'm very happy with my 3.7, doesnt do real great on gas though. Probably comparable to the 3.9, but oodles of power, nice smooth powerband and great low end gusto...

Message: I test drove a 3.7 Dak stick and hands down, had
more power than a 3.9 I use to own.
I tried to trade my 02 4x4, 4.7, auto, tow
package, in the same day for the same package
but I wanted stick and 3.7 insted. The dealer
tried to locate one for me with no luck. Factory
stopped building new 04's so I could not order
one.
Gonna wait for the 05's.. Not sure I want one
untill I look it over first. One thing Chrysler
had better have taken care of is the brake and
tranny problems or I'm looking elsewhere for my
next truck.

Message: I have one (RC 5spd 2wd). It is pretty fast. It is just as fast as my old 94 318 5spd clubcab 2wd dak. The only complaint I have is the off idle torque sucks. Once it hits 2k though look out this little v6 pulls real strong. I would not try to race anyone with the AC on though. I have gotten no less that 19.5 mpg all around driving since it has broken in. It should get better since it currently has 3700 miles on it and I havent switched to synthetic yet. I will at 6K. Great truck for $13100 on the road with the 3500 rebate.

Message: pittdawg - I beg to differ. HP to weight ratio. RC vs CC. My 94 was over 4000 lbs, same rear axle ratio, 210 hp v6 vs 220 hp v8. Yes the v8 made 295 ft/lbs of torque @3200 rpm and it would pull the new v6 dak down the street backwards, but in a flat out drag race from a dead start this little v6 would run pretty close to neck and neck with the old 5.2. Trust me I owned them both. Im sure that my old 5.2 would outrun any of the v6 autos and any of the v6 club cabs or quads but it would be a good race with this little regular cab stripper SXT. I'm not some young punk just shooting my mouth off. Go drive a stripped rc 3.7 v6 5spd dak. You will be shocked on how well it accelerates. The old 3.9 doesnt even compare (stock for stock).
