I'm starting, again, to see a loss of mpg in my 4.7L '01 CC 4x4 it's got about 45,000 miles on it and has had a complete fuel injection cleaning at around 22,000 miles.
What 'gasoline fuel additives' are you people using to try and keep the injectors unplugged between major servicings?
I'm due for complete fluids change, going to Amsoil everywhere, in 800 miles and would like not to have to make a special trip to the shop for a fuel injector cleaning..

Your fuel already has additives in it to keep your injectors clean. I have heard both sides of the argument that additional additives do or don't help. I tend to put them in anyway at each oil change anyway. I use Valvoline, about $6 a bottle. Again, I'm not sure if it helps or not, but better safe than sorry.

Why not pop them off and clean them manually? It's very easy to remove the injectors.

I used the STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner...it's like $6-7 for a bottle and says you should only use it once every 4000 miles. I'd been trying to get my gas mileage to go up for many weeks and nothing was helping. I ended up running that bottle through and on the next full tank of gas my mileage went from around 15.7 mpg to 18.2 mpg (both mostly city mileages). The 15.7 measurement was with me driving pretty normal. The 18.2 (which so far has been consistent since then) included a drag race or two and also my extreme lead foot the majority of the time. I dunno...I'd say if the injectors or something in the fuel system is clogged/dirty, that stuff really does work.

You might try different brands of gas. The quality of the gas can cut your gas mileage too. Good luck.

and if the stock fuel injectors on your truck are the same style as
on my 99 no wonder they suck, get rid of them and replace with
a set of bosch injectors from fiveomotorsports.com
