 Subject: drum brakes

I tried to remove the drums on my '98 reg cab dakota to inspect the brake shoes. when I did this the drum came out only about .5" and would go no further. how do I get it come out the rest of the way.

Remove the rubber plug on the bottom of the backing plates and turn the self adjusters backwards, this will move the shoes inward.
Either that or beat the pizz out of the drums with a dead blow hammer, but moving the adjusters in is much easier ;-)
