Any of you guys have the "Hurculiner" brand bed liner kit on your trucks? I would like a spray in type liner but don't really want to pay to have one professionally installed so I've been thinking about a Hurculiner kit. Personally I would rather do it myself and know that it was done right anyway. Any thoughts?

Ive had the Herculiner before on my old Jeep - Dont ruin your '04 with it, the spray in type is far better than this "do it yourself" kind. I found that your prep work has to be perfect or you may have blistering and peeling. It also peeled on the corners/edges from wear. The spray in kind is far tuffer and a much better finish. Look for the kind that they apply "hot" - The hot spray has far superior adhesion. Ive seen guys throw bricks, etc in the bed with out even a scratch to this finish - No way the herculiner would with stand that kind of abuse.

I have also used a similar product in the past and would not recommend it. As "Don’t do it" stated the prep has to be perfect or it will blister and peel. even if the prep is perfect, it does not have the same final finish that the Rhino or Linex do. Mine finished very soft, looked good but not functional. (I used close to twice the recomended amount and it was still crap)
any heavy object (tool box) would sink into it and leave a mark. Trying to slide the same tool box would tear and mar the surface.
If you want something for short term I recommend a bed mat. $60 for a rubber mat that you can throw in the garage under your work bench later.
My plan is to wait until the bed is scratched up and needs a facelift, and then I will pay to have it professionally done.
I think I used duplicolor bed liner.

I also applied duplicolor roll-on and here is my input:
1. There is no question that spray-on line is superior. But the cost is my major concern. So I didn't do it.
2. As jaggy said, roll-on is ok for light duty work only. And you can always fix it cheaply if it's damaged. The duplicolor I used is lacquer based, so it bonds to itself easily. If you choose to do it, I suggest you use two or three gallons ($40 per gallon) for an acceptable thickness, instead of one gallon as the instruction says.
3. If you need to do heavy duty work with your truck, go for a drop-in liner. Beneath it you can apply a layer of roll-on liner, use a bed mat, or some other non-slip cushion to prevent the scratch of the paint. Overall the cost will still be lower than the spray-on.

I bought my Dak with a Rhino Liner already installed, so I didn't have to worry about price, but I am glad I have it, and regardless of the cost when I get a new truck I am going to have a Rhino Liner installed in it. I love it and couldn't imagine my truck without it. It seems impossible to damage, or tear, and the only concern is the truck is an 02 and the liner has faded a little but I think it would be worth the money. Just my $.02.
