Message: bowhunter,
What year is you Dak? I don't know how much the back seats vary from year to year, if at all. I've got an '03 CC. It came with the latch system, but seat belt ones would still work. I believe that the requirement is that the seats must be rear-facing until the child is least 1 year AND over 20 pounds. My son is over 20 lbs, but only 7 months old, so he's rear-facing in an infant/toddler (convertible) seat. Since your daughter is only 10 months, I'm guessing that you want a converible seat that you can install rear-facing for two months or so, and then turn around when she's over 1 year. The rear-facing position seems to take up a lot more room that if it were forward-facing due to the angles of the seats. I haven't tried it forward-facing yet so I don't know for sure though.
Not sure of the brand of seat I have in my Dak, I'll check it out later today. I have it in the back passenger side, with the front pass seat slid all the way forward w/ the seat back almost all the way upright. It works for us because my wife is small. She could fit up front just fine, but usually rides in the back with the baby. I tried a couple seats rear-facing in the middle, but none seemed to work too well unless both front seats were pushed forward a bit. I'm not too tall (just under 5'-11") but I need the driver's seat about one notch from all the way back. If/when we have another baby, I'm pretty certain that I can get one seat front-facing behind me, with the other rear-facing on the pass side. Wife would have to ride up front.
Three seats probably won't work, though I haven't tried!
Let me know if you need more info. I can give you the stats on the one in my Dak, and the one in my wife's car. Both are pretty compact (the seats that is). We looked at lots of seats and got one's that were more compact yet still well rated. Some of those seats are huge!

Message: bowhunter,
All I know for sure is that the one in my truck is "Cosco" brand, but I don't know the model offhand. I'll check it out & post tomorrow. I'll try the one from my wife's car also. It's a different brand seat, but still pretty compact. Interior dimensions of '03 and '98 should be the same, not certain though. I'll take a few measurements, maybe a photo or two just to be sure.
I remember picking out the seats at Babies'R'Us, took forever because they had a couple dozen on display, all with slightly different features.

Message: Bowhunter, My 3 year old has a front facing seat (Alpha Omega I think) mounted in the back between the 2 front bucket seats, To get the seat in I had to remove the flip down arm rest/CD holder/console thing from the center portion of the front seat. Only 2 bolts hold the center console in so it was an easy removal in my 2000 CC.
Our 5 month old has been in the truck a couple times on vacation. I put her rear facing seat in the center of the front seat, with the handle of the car seat removed so it would not interfere with the steering wheel. It's a real tight fit to say the least and workable, but I wouldn't recommend this for everyday driving since it can be awkward, takes space from the drivers and passangers seat. Can't remember which seat it is, came with the stroller.
Had me, my wife, 3 year old son and 5 month old baby in the truck on 2 vacations this year so far. Once the little one gets into a front facing seat it's going to be fun trying to figure out how to fit another front facing seat in there ;-)
