Message: I was out for drinks tonight with my friends from work who has an 04 F series Supercrew. So we're out in the parking lot after last call comparing trucks when he mentions he wished his 5.4 liter sounded more like my Quad 4.7. Im having serious trouble believing a 300 horse engine sounds that much worse than my little 281 cid so we fire them both up. And surprise, surprise, his bigger, stronger V8 revved and idled like a V6 minivan, flat and weak, whereas my DAk actually sounded kinda like a muted 60s muscle car. Now keep in mind Im an open minded truck guy and a big fan of the new F150, but if he wants any rumble at all he's gotta go pay 500 bucks for decent exhaust, whereas my truck sounds like a V8 truck should for free.

Message: Those 4.7's do sound pretty badass stock...I love the sound of my grandpa's 4.7 Durango. I tried convincing him to get a new muffler so it'd sound even better, but he's one of those people who thinks stock is the ONLY way you should go unless you want to break something. Ah well...it's his vehicle, not mine.

Message: Haha. Yea I love how my 4.7 sounds. I just added a Flowmaster 40, single in 3"/dual 2.5" out, and left the stock piping on. Sounds really mean now, deep rumble, I love it.

Message: that sounds like a plan Germ! i want to try a flow 40 series, on my dak. (single in/out stock pipes) currently i have a dynomax super turbo on my 4.7L, and its too quiet for me :-P i really like the sound of the GS motorsports exhaust, but i don't have deep enough pockets!
According to allpar.com (this may be why it sounds so good for a small v8)
"Buddy Revell pointed out that the new engine is "almost" a Hemi - "the only reason it isn't called a hemi is because the combustion chambers have a wall on one side that makes it look kind of like a flat tire. Other than that everything is in the same arangment. The valve springs are across from each other and the spark plug goes right down the middle"

Message: I don't think he's going to have send that much just to get a aftermarket exhaust. The next time you are out in the parking lot, just mention the magnaflow

Message: Those Magnaflows sound great on some of those vehicles and worse than sh!t on others... the Yukons sound AWESOME with em. I bet the Dakotas would sound good too since they already sound pretty good with the stock muffler. I think my favorite muffler on the V8 though would have to be Borla.

Message: I put a magnaflow 14260 straight swap for stock on my 4.7L. Have had at least 20 people stop me & ask what is that sounds great.IMHO sounds better than great & I'm a grandpa to go with it.
