If my memory serves me right, it is under the dash and it is a box with a timer in it. You can not reset it but you can just unplug it and throw it away and the light will go out. It is meant to have you go in for an emissions inspection. I can't remember the exact procedure for your truck-some had a reset button behind the speedo, some had the timer box and some had to be reset with a scan tool. If you can not find the timer box, remove the bulb.

How can i reset the computer so i can check to see if the codes have changed after i change the part the code shows the frist time

Disconnect the battery for a few minutes, then you will only get a code 12 (battery recently disconnected) and code 55 (end of message), if all is well.
