Message: I need to wire my truck to light the brake light on my camper shell. Where do I pull this wire from? I don't want it to blink with the turn signals....any help appreciated.

Message: There is an adaptor you can get from any auto part store that will only light the 3rd break light or the shell light when the breaks are appled or when the hazzard lights are on.

Message: How about hooking up the light inside of the cab?
Need a wire that is hot all of the time so I can just turn on the light(wich has a switch).
The only way I can figure to do it is to find hot wire to the 12 v acc. plug in the dash and run a wire under the truck all the way to the back?
Any other ideas.....is there a hot wire in the rear somewhere?

Message: i think the only way you'll find a hot wire back there is if you have a 7-wire trailer plug. other than that, just run a fused wire direct from the battery direct or the PDC.

Message: Here is what I have done on the last three Dakotas having a cap. To make it easy to remove the cap and disconnect the light brake light I bought a 4 wire flat towing connection. On the Cap end, I connected one wire to the brake light, one to the inside cap light and used other two for ground wires. Note the color of the wire so you can use the same color on the other end of the connection. On the left corner of the bed by the tail light I dropped down the other side (wired end) of the of the 4 wire flat plug. I used the CHMSL wire that Jimmy described for the brake light and then tapped into the lights that light up the license plate and then grounded the other two wires. Brake light works fine, and when you want to turn on the cap light, you need to turn on your parking lights in the cab. When I want to take the cap off, you disconnect the plug and you are ready to go. The Cap Dealer wanted to charge me an hour labor when I inquired. I can think of a lot of other things to do with $80 buckaroos. Truely, it is a 1/2 a beer job. Good Luck, Fishful Thinking.
