Subject: paint my tailpipe? IP: Logged
Message: hey all,
i'm tired of looking at my stock tailpipe.
its not terrible, but it has that burnt-metal color to it. i was thinking of getting a chrome tip, but i don't like the look (you can still see the stock pipe its attached to).
so i was thinking of getting some high-heat spraypaint i saw at home depot. made for bbqs and other high-heat applications.
i'll probably just go with black. (i purposely have no chrome on my truck anyway)
any thoughts?

Message: I do that all the time. Hi temp and you're set. I hate looking at that weird metal color too. I also paint out all the different colored bolts and whatnot on my lowering blocks and shocks. I like the monochrome look.

Message: I like the look of many of the aftermarket tips available. Sometimes the shape can really wake up the looks. But - like you - I don't want some junky looking chrome piece back there.
So find a shape that you like, apply a little sand paper, and powdercoat to your taste. If you have a bright color like red or blue, translucent powdercoat over chrome looks really trick.
