Subject: No 2005 regular cab?

From what I just read off of a Dodge site the new 2005 will be offered no smaller than the club cab or the quad cab. Is this true or did I misunderstand it? It just wouldn't seem right without a regular cab.

I can't believe that. I wonder why Dodge would do something like that? All I can say is that I'm glad I got my regular cab while I still had the chance. I like the looks of the current Dakota much better anyway.

Who wants a regular cab anyway? Club cabs or quad cabs are much better in every way. If you want to go fast, figure it out ...GM and Ford have

There are a few reasons why I like Regular Cabs and why Dodge should offer them.

1. For fleet vehicles and work trucks there should always be an option for Regular Cab and 8 ft. Bed. Work guys don't give a damn for club cabs and companies like to save cash by not paying for all that extra space.

2. Short box, Regular cab is a great way of building a race truck. Less weight, shorter wheelbase ensures slightly better traction. It also makes for a tighter turning radius for true offroaders. When turning around on a tight two track, wheelbase is your worst enemy.

3. Economical, less cab, less money. I see more basic package dakotas with reg cab and short beds with the grey front ends. Quite a few guys just don't want to pay for all that extra space, they just want a truck.

4. If you need extra space, what are you using your bed for???

The point is that GM and Ford still offer it and brag about it. Canyon/Colorado actually looks good in that version and is popular around here. Without regular cab they are marketeting their product to a much smaller crowd. I don't own one, I have never owned one, but I'm still upset that they arent offering one. Trucks are all about versatility and without that option we are doomed to $25,000 MSRP without any chance of a lower price.

Well, I guess that I would want one seeing that I own one. I would prefer my R/C over an extended anyway. It's all in what you like.
