While camping last weekend the battery on my 2000 Dakota died and I had to jump start the vehicle. After starting the truck the radio would not work. The only lights I get are on the bass and treble controls and they flash on and off. I removed the fuse for the radio and replaced it in hopes it would reset whatever was wrong, but it still just flashes. Any suggestions?

Try resetting the PCM ( neg battery post off and ignition key on for a few seconds. )

Thanks for the advice, I tried resetting the PCM and nothing changed with the radio. It still flashes in a sequence from off to dim to bright. When I called the local dealership they said that they don't troubleshoot radios they would just need to order a new one. Of course that would be fine with me if the radio was still under warranty. I may just need to install an aftermarket radio rather than pay for an OEM unit.

Just as an FYI: I picked up a brand new OEM unit off of ebay for a LOT less than it would cost at the dealer, if you wanted to stay with th OEM look.

I did the same thing. Got a practically new OEM cassette unit for 20 bucks, postpaid. The CD units are more, but my main objective was to keep the OEM look and not have to do any aftermarket wiring that the Infinity system might not like. And I'm an AM radio fan, so it worked out great. If you go that route, be sure the connectors on the back of the unit you get will mate correctly with your truck's connectors.

Advanced auto parts sold me the wrong battery and therefore the battery post were opposite of what they should be. The polarities were reversed and when the battery was hooked up it then fried my alternator. After the alternator was installed, I noticed that my stock radio in my 2004 dodge Dakota no longer worked. All of the lights surrounding it work but the radio itself does not. The fuse is not blown. Is there a code that needs to be put in the radio or is the radio just shot?
