I know I'm probably overreacting, but there is a Hurst 5-speed shifter (supposedly brand-new) on e-bay right now with 2 and 1-/2 days left in the auction and these guys have already got the bid up to $138.00! The thing only goes for $160.00, brand new from a catalog where you can atleast return it if it wouldn't fit right. Doesn't anyone have any common sense anymore? I wouldn't have even posted this but I'll bet by the time I get back from my weekend trip this thing goes over the amount it sells for in the catalog, what a waste.

I have noticed that also. There are people selling stuff with an opening bid higher than the retail price. You have to be real careful with eBay. It has become about 75% rip off. Every now and then I find something I could use for cheap though. Most people don't do any research before they look on eBay. Then they think, because its on eBay it has to be a good price.

Some sellers wait till the last minute and have some one run up the bids for them, hoping you are dumb enough to re-bid.
