Subject: Bigger wheel = Incorrect gauges IP: Logged
Message: I've got a 96' Dakota 4x4 lifted on 265/75/16 inch wheels and tires. I put them on last week and i know my Speedo gauge is off. I just don't know by how much and how to fix it. Can anyone help please?

Message: Try this web site, it will tell you a what correction to use to est. you mph.
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
Also, try to find someone that will flash the PCM to correct the speedo, if that works on the 96. I know it does on 97+.

Message: Measure the circumfrence of your old tires, and your new ones. The % differance is how much your speedometer is off.
Get out on the highway where there's mile markers. Travel at exactly 60mph for exactly 60 seconds, and compare that to how far you've gone.
Get another car with an accurate speedometer, another driver, and two cell phones.
