Subject: Coolant dipstick IP: Logged
Message: Just this week I purchased my first Dodge vehicle. A 2004 Dakota 4.7L V8, QuadCab. While checking the coolant, with engine running and up to temp., as the book says..notice the level of coolant where the holes are. When I do this, all the holes are filmed over with coolant, but there is NO coolant anywhere else on the stick. Not even on bottom of stick. Is this the way it is suppose to be?

Message: yeah thats the way it should be. i usually take it out once, and wave it around gently (within reason) to get the trapped coolant out of the holes. then reinsert and check again.
