Subject: 4.7 oil leak IP: Logged
Message: I was changing my oil the other day and I noticed that I have oil leaking from where the tranny connects to the back of the motor at the seam where the two lower bolts are. It's right behind the oil pan.
I took it the dealer and of course, they couldn't see it(are they blind?) Anyway, they were kind enough to clean the bottom of the motor for me.....maybe because there was oil from the leak around there.
Anyway, I checked it today and it's still leaking.
Has anyone heard of this before?

Message: Rear main seal is a gasket. They have to drop the tranny to fix it. The part is just a couple bucks but labor is expensive, unless you know someone that can remove the tranny. I had that problem, but it was under warranty at the time. It was pinched. Good luck!

If it's minor, leave it alone.

Message: It's definitely leaking. I have warranty which is good but I just hate the idea of having to get the tranny pulled already.
Now that I know it's a big job, I wonder if they knew what it was but couldn't be bothered to tear it apart. Who knows but I'm not a mechanic and I could see it was leaking.
I got to have it fixed though.

Message: Don't let the dealer f$uck with you, Atlantic
Blue. They will keep up the same old song and
dance trying to prolong the warranty work.
Go to the dealers big shot first. If that doesn't
help, time to call Chrysler.
Good luck..
