Message: Can some of you preferred customers and wholesalers tell me what your bottom line cost is for amsoil (5-30 for example)? I've checked the retail prices and am curious how much can be saved over that.

Oilman,
I am in a bit of a rush, but I will take time to post this really quick.
Amsoil's Synthetic SAE 5w-30 = $4.55 Quart Preferred or Dealer Price
Preferred Customer or Dealer/Wholesale cost is $4.55 quart. It is cheaper in larger quantities. Amsoil Preferred Customers and Dealers pay the same wholesale prices.
I will be back later with additional information.
Gotta Run.

Amsoil's SAE 100% Synthetic 5W-30 or 10W-30, Product Code ASL
Amsoil's SAE 5W-30 or 10W-30 100% Synthetic Motor Oils are excellent oils and have shown to be almost the same quality as our top of the line Amsoil Series 2000. IMHO ... Amsoil SAE 5w-30 or 10w-30 gives you the best bang for $$$, and it is the oil that I use.
Amsoil Series 2000 100% Synthetic Oil
Amsoil Series 2000 0w-30 is the more shear stable of the two Amsoil formulations (SAE vs. Series 2000). The Series 2000 also reduces friction (better gas mileage -- fuel savings of approx 2%-3% in comparison to the 10w-30 in short trip driving), protects from heat and wear better, better engine cleanliness than the 5w-30 and 10w-30 due to higher detergency, better cold weather performance --- in any high performance application, --- and will provide the lowest oil consumption in older vehicles that are experiencing oil consumption problems.
Special note: Amsoil Series 2000 0w-30 can be used to in place of 5w-20/5w-30/10w-30 oils. I'd even recommend it in engines that come with 0w-40 or 5w-40 grades.
Either oil is fine. I use the less pricey of the two. If you drive your truck "hard" --- you might be happier with your choice of the Series 2000.

o annual membership cost ($20)
o shipping (can minimize by bulk ordering, but still present)
o sales tax (AmsOil seems to be _very_ good at collecting sales tax even if they do not have a distribution site in the state)
I still use M1 motor oil due to the cost issue, but went to AmsOil for the tranny, xfer case, and diff.

If you really think that there is a small difference in quality you
are dead wrong.
I owned and operated a commercial lawn care company for years
and I have used both Mobil1 and AMSOIL in side by side
comparisons numerous times .... AMSOIL is Superior !
Oil analysis and TBO (time between overhaul) proves AMSOIL is
much better.
If you want to use Mobil1, that is your choice. For me it is
AMSOIL !
If you plan on buying Mobil1 go to Wal-Mart (best price).
If you plan on buying AMSOIL become a preferred customer
(best price).

Dr. D,
Many Retail Stores (and Dodge Dealers) are overcharging for Amsoil products, and it appears that the Florida Dodge Dealer is overcharging for our products. Your Dodge Dealer is charging $16 qt. for a product that sells in the Amsoil Catalog for $12.05 Qt. (retail).
AMSOIL Gear Lube --- Catalog Retail Pricing
Series 2000 75w-90 $9.20 Qt. / 75w-140 $12.05 Qt. retail.(Amsoil preferred customer discount $7.20 / $9.35 respectively). You can become a preferred customer for $20 per year ($10 for a 6 month trial) and receive up to 25% off retail pricing.

Dodge Dealers are only carrying limited Amsoil products. So, anyone that is interested in the complete line of Amsoil products still needs to request a FREE Amsoil Catalog.
Also, how much knowledge do you think the
Dodge Dealer Staff will have about Amsoil products or how to use them? Answer ... None!
Here is the rub ...
Dodge Dealerships are "High Grading or High Ending" ... selling only Amsoil's best and fastest movers ... and leaving the rest of the product line to dealers who have put a lot of time, effort and money into understanding and educating themselves on the complete Amsoil product line ... making Amsoil what it is today, a recognized Industry Leader, a recognized label and a superior product.
--------------------------------------------------
Amsoil Gear Lube
A lot of people ask: 75w-90 or 75w-140 ? Personally I would use the synthetic 75w-90 since synthetic 75w-90 will perform above and beyond the recommended petroleum 75w-90.
I have Freightliner customers driving Class 8 Tractor Trailor Trucks using 75w-90 synthetic gear lube in their difs. Tuff enough for them ... Tuff enough for me.
AMSOIL products clearly offer better wear protection than competitive synthetics and much better protection than conventional oils. AMSOIL gear oils are formulated with friction modifiers for limited slip differential applications. There is no need to add limited slip or additional additives.
AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic Gear Lube lasts longer than conventional petroleum gear lubes do. In non-commercial passenger vehicles operated under normal conditions, AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic Gear Lube does not have to be drained, therefore it should last the "life of the vehicle".

Amsoil Series 2000 is the latest introduction from Amsoil offering a higher level of performance vs. Amsoil's "regular" gear lube. They start with a different base stock with a special additives package. Amsoil could have discontinued the regular gear lube but contine to carry it due to its popularity.

only a dumass needing a size 12 would.
Sure Steve pays some of the bills around here and I appreciate that,
BUT, I just tore down a 91 Dak with 247,983 on the odo that had NEVER seen synthetic, and I gotta tell ya, you could tell the owner had changed oil every 3,000, yes there was some wear on the bores and the bearings, But not too bad, the crank journals needed only .0047 to clean up on the worst one, so in the interest of ease of assembly I ground them to .010 under, magnafluxed it and reused it. The piston bores were worn no more then .0125 so I overbored it to .018 then honed the final .002 to .020 over. yeah I have seen you guys try to tell others it is cheaper to use the expensive stuff but at $22.75 (for 5 quarts) every 7500 just for the oil and another 6 for the filter = $28.75 or $143.75 for 5 oil changes a year PLUS $20 bucks as a "preferred customer" comes to a grand total of $163.75 per year, plus tax.
The customer in question used Shell Drive clean at $1.79 a quart so his oil changes ran him a total of $14.95 each and since most of his milage was hiway he extended out to 6,000 between changes so he ended up paying an average of $93.44 a year for oil and filter, plus tax. Now here comes the other HARD PART you Amsoil freaks don't want to hear. The average car/truck lasts 13 years 6 months before either an accident or rust has sent it to the junk yard. I have had several Dodges that I have kept to the end of there usable life, as well as several Fords and chevies, NON lasted me that long, accidents and living in the rust belt has, for me anyway never had a vehicle last more then 11 years 8 months till it was junked. Yeah if I had used synthetic oils the lubricated parts would still be in good shape. BUT THE JUNK MAN WOULD NOT HAVE GIVEN ANY MORE if I had.
So except for massaging your ego what good does it really do for your personal pocket book?
The extra mile per gallon or so might, if gas goes to more then several bucks a gallon, pay for itself, but in every day driving of 15,000 a year it just don't pay off. And the guy that buys it from you won't pay any more for it.

"Factory Fill" means nothing except
low-bid and a co-marketing agreement.
Amsoil has been approached to be factory fill
for many of the vehicles that you mentioned.
However ... Because Amsoil is not readily available in EVERY Country where the vehicles are sold ... they were not able to submit the RFP (Request For Proposal). "On-The-Shelf" availability in EVERY Country where the vehicles are sold is one of the requirements. That is why Schaffers, Redline, Royal Purple, and Amsoil will never be "factory fill".
Also, Amsoil has been approached by Walmart. Amsoil will not bow to their abusive purchase tactics, nor will they undercut their hundreds of Independent Amsoil Dealers.

The local Quickie Lube charges $45 for Mobil1 w/ a Mobil1 filter. My Amsoil SAE 5w-30 and filter cost me $40 and the same Quickie Lube charges me $12 for the service only (I provide my own product). Therefore, in my situation, Amsoil is only a $7 premium to Mobil1. Try doing that with any other Premium Synthetic Oil. You can't! No other Premium Oil Company offers Preferred Customer Prices. Only Amsoil.
