Subject: Any Door Panel removal Hints? IP: Logged
Message: '99 Dakota CC 2wd Auto, with manual mirrors, windows and locks:
I am putting on Street Scene Cal Vu manual mirrors on Friday.
Are there any tips that someone with 1st hand experience could give me in the door panel removal?
Like I said, I have manual everything and I heard that the window crank can be a pain.
Are there any special tools or replacement clips or any other materials needed?
Thanks in advance,
Darryl

Message: I have a 2003 CC R/T and had the door panel off yesterday. Only difference that I know of is I have power windows.
Mine had 5 screws. I removed all 5 and picked straight up on the whole panel and it came right off.

Message: Darryl, they do make a tool to remove the window crank clip. If you do a search, there are also hints to use if you don't want to buy the tool. I don't recall what they were, as I don't have manual cranks, so I didn't retain the info.

Message: I used a bent coat hanger. If you are really careful and not force it, the little jesus clip will pop up quite clean. I call it a jesus clip because if it pops too quickly it will fly across the room and disappear, making me say "jesus.."

Message: just use a bent coat hanger and pull off your window crank, push back the panel and look at the little silver or gold clip. push up on the clip at the bottom, 1 side on each part, and put a towel over the top cuz it will shoot out and youll loose them or cup it with your hands. take out screws and pop rivets and viola its off.
for the side mirrors on my 98 i had 3 screws u just undo and take it off, theres a little sticky adhesive to i think, bolt on new ones then put on door panel, make sure u remember to put back the clip and put ur little ring that goes on the window crank the right way ;)
o ya btw, i have manual window and locks on a 98 and put bmw m3 mirrors on mine so it shouldnt be hard, pics at www.stw.truckmoxie.com/ralph4u2c
