Was just callin around for sh!ts and giggles to see if anybody carries step bars for our trucks in stock. I figured the one thing keeping me from spending the money was Id have to order them. And I cant stand ordering things. And now a shop a half hour from me has the darn things in stock. So I will have a set on my truck my the end of the business day. DANGINT, it's SO HARD, living life with a truck that always seems to demand toys.

I wasnt even originally planning on buying them. But then watching my grand mother, my 5'2" mother, and my father struggle to get up into the truck I realized not everybody who will ride in it is 5'9" and limber like I am.

Just to recount, in the 8 months sicne I bought the truck and swore it would remain stock for a LONG, LONG TIME, it now has a drop-in bed liner, rail caps, soft cover, westin bed extender, husky mud flaps for all four corners, euro tails, ventvisors on all four doors, Lund interceptor bug deflector, westin chrome oval step tubes as of this afternoon, and alpine head unit with 6 disk CD changer. And that billet aluminum grill with bumper insert is still lookin kinda good.

I would hate to think of what would have happened if I'd promised myself I'd modify the heck out of it.

Impressions of the bars: I think I definitely went the right way with the chrome, looks good with my Atlantic Blue and sets of the shape of the truck well with a good, rugged look, whereas I think the black ones would have been better with the darker blues, black, or grey.

They are actually functional, unlike some others I've seen on other types of trucks. There's good space for your whole foot to fit on them and they seem very sturdy, with no give under my 185 pounds. Only thing I would have liked is if they'd stuck out another inch or two for better door ding protection. Id post pics, but, well, guess where the digital camera money just went. So I'll have to try to get my hands on one some time later in the week and let somebody show me how to put pics on the net.

Whew! After reading up a bit when I got home last night and realizing how much of a difference there is between the Signature and Platinum series Westin bars I was afraid I screwed up and got the Signature cause I didn't know to specifically ask for the other ones. Fortunately I called back to double-check and it turns out Trailerama on Rt. 38 in Mt. Holly New Jersey only carries the Platinum series. By the way, seems like a top notch place if anybody around here lives in the Jersey/Philly area and like me, prefers to buy things out of stock rather than special ordering whenever possible. One of few places that seems to have anything in stock for Dakotas, and they also have a nice selection of used caps and hard tonneaus.

I called at 1 to verify they had them, got there at 3, and was outta there before 4.
