Subject: 5-45 RFE swap to Durango IP: Logged
Message: I'm thinking about buying a 01 Durango SLT PLUS w equipt with a 360 Magnum motor. The only problem with the truck is I really rather not have the current 46RE transmission its mated to. Is there any way I could swap to the newer 545 REF tranny.
it is a 4x4 and I could really make good use with a shorter 1st gear!

Message: I don't think it would unless you get the same softwhere from the engine codes. the computer form the tranny has to be in comuncation with the main computer thats linked to the sensors to the engine (powertech or Hemi). But it could be possible. Or you could check out a Jasper tranny with that includes shorter gear ratios that would fit right up to a 360 with no problem and no extra softwhere.

Message: I do belive that the newest generation of morpar transmissions or built only for the newer generation engines such as the 4.7- the newer 6.1L Hemi.
Jasper trannies or Jets aren't too bad. You can have them built the way you want it.
