I just installed a roll pan on my 2000 dak quad cab. There was a massive stabilizer(i think) that was runnin between the frame rails. My question is is there anny harm in that not being on there??? I have not noticed a difference personally. I know i save about 100 pounds taking the bumper and that stabalizer off though.

the stabalizer is for the bumper and for towing. It wont cause any harm not being there.

I know it is a popular thing to do. but really don't understand people wanting NO PROTECTION where the bumper should be!

That bumper is a great place to plant a Honda emblem when one rear ends you. But without the bumper... You're left kind of naked.
That's kind of like holding you legs spread apart and letting some girl kick you in the b@lls!!!

Just my opinion. If it was a race only vehicle, that would be different. Dunno. I drive in Phoenix. I DEFENITELY want my bumper.

I see your point, but using the same rationale you could get
killed by a meteor stepping out your front door too. Should you
never leave your house? You gotta live life how you want to. If
you worry about every possible negative outcome in every
possible thing you do in life you will be a nervous wreck in no
time.

Well. Not exactly.
It's highly unlikely for a person to get hit by a meteor. But at least 1/2 of all drivers eventually get rear ended.

It will happen. And you will wish you left the bumper on.

I've thought about the rear end thing but not too worried..... that's what i pay insurance for. Any rear end collision would be the other guys fault and would not cause mine to go up. I do take the truck to the track but i did it for an appearance thing... not performance. I was just really surprised at lhow heavy that damn thing was. thanks for all replies.

I thougt of that when for when I install my roll pan and was thinking of mounting something behind it to act as a bumper but also isnt the bumper just big piece of metal to protect the car that hits you from having the frame rails drove into him??

I used rivets to install mine... not the screws. I had a bolt holes on the sides that actually lined up... amazing... being fiberglass and all. But as for the whiplash.... i don't think a bumber is going to save you from that if you get rearended. It's gunna hurt either way. Just less damage to your truck with the bumper... that's what i meant by the insurance... fixing the truck, not me.......
