Subject: '01 Quad Cab axle offset IP: Logged
Message: I just picked up my ''01 black Quad Cab auto
AWD w/ sport plus grp, etc..last wednesday.
Great and powerful truck, BIG enough for our
swiss alpine roads. Everything's okay except it
suffer the famous rear axle offset. I've checked
if it could be the bed that was improperly
mounted but it's not, its the axle itself ! (I
measured both -bed to frame and axle to
frame on the right and left sides). The offset is
approx. 3/4 inch. It seemed to be a problem
resulting from a poor leaf spring
manufacturing job (spring not very straight).
So, could inverting the leaf springs (right to left
and vice versa) be the cure ?
The truck has now 460 miles and is riding and
braking straight. So I'm afraid to ask the dealer
to do something (even under warranty) as the
cure could be worse than the "problem".
Any advice welcome.

Message: I would bring it to your dealers attenion right away. If it causes any problems down the road you will want it doccumented!
