Subject: Shocks: Rancho vs. Pro Comp IP: Logged
Message: I need new shocks and want to spend around $40.00 per shock and saw the lowest grade model of Rancho's were comparable to the high or mid grade Pro Comps. Which is better for bad streets and some offroading. I dont mind a stiff ride.

I ran the RS5000's (Rancho) and then switched over the to ES9000's (ProComp). There's no comparison...the ES9000's work MUCH better...for less money. (They're a higher grade shock as well...RS5000 = Oil/Hydraulic & ES9000's are Gas Charged.)

Message: Procomp is owned by monroe. Monroe is owned by Delphi chasis. I think you might want to look at bilstein shocks. You can normaly get them for $49.00 each for a lot of applications. The RS5000 are a good shock.

Message: I have Edelbrock shocks also, they are awesome. Probably the best shock for a stock truck. I wouldn't use it on a lifted or lowered truck.

Message: Rancho RSX's were my choice this time around. I think they would fit your needs perfectly and run about $50 each from Summit Racing. Way better than the Rancho RS5000's I had once upon a time.

Message: Pro comp has more to offer especially the ES9000 because they are nitrogen gas charged, and they have a super cool look! If your going to buy Rancho you are not going to have a smooth ride on the road which Pro comp will give you.
