I know this question has been asked a million times, but i looked through a lot of the old posts and couldnt find my specific question...

I have a 97' Dakota Sport 5spd 3.9L V6 and my gauge fuse keeps blowing. At first I just replaced it once in a while, but now it blows everytime I start the truck up with a new fuse in.

I'm either looking for a solution to this problem or at least a wiring diagram for my dakota. The fuse is in the inside fuse panel by the way. Im a struggling college student so its hard for me to buy all the manuals, can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance

It seems to me you have a short somewhere in the power circuit for the gauges. I can't offer the diagrams for you but I would check around the area for wires missing their protective covering and touching metal somewhere. The side fuse panel by the driver's door is a pain to look at from underneath where all the connectors for it are. Do you know an electrician who has some basic tools to trouble shoot with? Even a Chilton or Haynes would offer a basic wiring diagram for you truck for only $20, the factory manual which is the most comprehensive is $100. I'd stop putting fuses in there until you get it fixed. That fuse is all that is standing between your truck and an electrical fire.

Maybe someone else has the answer out there.

You might try looking under the dash around any mechanical devices such as your clutch and brake pedal area. (If you already havn't) I have a 2001 w/ a 5 spd. I recieved a recall notice for something like this. Good luck!
