Message: Hello, I just bought my 2nd gen 2 dakota sport, 1996 5 speed 3.9 liter and im having some problems. It spudders like crazy when accelarating. Ive had everything checked, compression, all sensors, timing, and had the injectors cleaned, new belt, cap, rotor, plugs, wires. On cylinder 3 and 6 the plugs look rusty but there brand new? my questions is this, when i bought the truck the guy said it might have a bad valve. well if it had a bad valve, would it not smoke or tick or knock or have bad compression? im stumped. would an intake leak make a really bad spudder when accelarating? im sure it would but wouldnt that of came up when they were checking the codes? dunno but any help would be appreciated. Bought the truck for dirt cheap and it looks awesome, i just need to get it running better. thanks.

Message: Sounds like "might have" meant he knew it had a problem but didn't know what. Did you do a vacuum check to see if it has a plugged cat ? Another thing to consider would be a dirty fuel filter or crimped gas line.

jharader,
Have you checked your firing order ? How smooth

Message: Check engine light flashes when accelarating. code says misfire in 3 and 6, i havnt checked the fuel pressure but I have checked the fuel rail and it sprays very little, kinda trickles out the cap. should it spray? I did change the intake gasket anyways and it didnt do any good at all. doesnt change rpm with brake on. all vaccum lines have been replaced also
