Subject: Blower Fan Problem

Message:
Hello.
Starting today the fan for my AC only comes on at its highest setting. The first three settings do not work at all. Has anyone experienced this issue? Does anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks

Check the relays in the Power Distribution Center (PDC). A couple people have had this problem before, but I think it was on older trucks though. The PDC should be mounted on the side of the engine bay. I seem to recall reading that sometimes the AC one fails, and others have a water infiltration problem that corrodes some of the contacts. This was the most common solution.

Other thing to check is a bad switch in your AC control panel.

Don't waste your time with all that shlt. Replace the blower motor resistor located in the plenum in the passenger side foot well. Costs $15.00 @ the dealer. You need to remove 3x5/16 self tapping bolts.

When the blower resistor goes, which it does alot on 01's cause DC got a bad batch of them, the only fan setting that works is high because the switch bypasses the resistor block altogether. Nope is right on the money with his/her answer.

Once you remove the old resistor, inspect it.
99% of the time you can see it broken (open)
telling you, you found the problem.

I replaced the resistor card yesterday and the fan works on all speeds. Price was $11.10 and the job took about 10 minutes.
Thanks for the help.
