Subject: Powerslots and Hawk Pads IP: Logged
Message: By reading all these forums, I've learned that Powerslots and Hawk pads are my best upgrade up front. I found rotors and brakes.com---> http://shop.ivalueinternet.com/RotorsAndBrakes/index.cfm/action/home.htm
where the Powerslots for my 2000 QC Sport 4x4 are $100.82/ea and the Hawk Pads are $57.60/set. Anyone know of any better deals?
Also, I'm thinking upgrading or at least fixing the rear brakes too. ANy suggestion on upgrades for rear drums?

Message: I purchased the Raybestos Brutestop drilled and slotted rotors and Raybestos Superstop pads from rockauto.com about 5-6 months ago and they are wearing great after 8-10K of highway/city/towing. The rotors were about $85ea and the pads were about $40 if memory serves me correct. Here's a thread I posted for a 5% rockauto.com discount code, but it's only good through 6-15-04. There's a more recent thread on this website about a 5% discount code from rockauto.com, so they will be even cheaper.
I don't regret getting the Raybestos brakes over the Powerstop/Hawk pad combo since the Raybestos pads and rotors are working great.

Message: PLarkin and DSW,
thanks for your replies. Stylinconcepts.com were asking an arm and a leg when I went there, and the Raybestos set up has definitely been looked at. I've even looked into Bsoch rotors and pads due to lifetime warranties, but can't find them too available. I'm not a brake expert, and I've heard more good luck with PS and Hawk, so I'll probably stick with that, but I definitely appreciate your replies. I still have some time before I purchase, so I may even wind up swinging back to Raybestos...who knows.

Message: By the way....
WHen I start moving forward I hear a squeak on my left rear brakes that accelerates as the truck does, and then I don't hear it anymore. Does ANyone know what that might be? I can feel the peda pulsating when I brake, but not a violent shudder. I've already decided to put money into the front breaks, but can someone give me an idea of the max I might have to pay to have the rear drums completely redone? Thanks
