Message: My trans went out 2 days after a back flush.
The Truck had 140,000 on it at the time so it
might have been a considence but from now
on I'll only change it by dropping the pan. Just
my .02 cents.

Message: The best way is to drop your pan, change the filter, put the pan
back on, replace the same amount you just took out and then to
flush the rest of the trans, disconnect your feed line at the
radiator or trans cooler, put a hose on that and pump out a
quart at a time by starting the truck and then shutting off after a
quart has been pumped out. Refill a quart as you drain a quart
doing it this way. If you do a search on here there are detailed
instructions on how to do it this way. While you have the pan off
you might want to install a drain plug kit so it won't be so messy
the next time you do it.

Message: The purpose of changing the oil is essentially the same as changing the engine oil. Refresh the additive package, new oil, get rid of particulate matter, etc. Simply dropping the pan and refilling will work fine. But you're not changing all the oil. That's OK, but not as good as flushing, and you have to do it more often.
5 qts of clean oil + 2 qts of dirty oil = 7 qts of dirty oil.

Message: If you simply flush them you'll likeky get to buy a new transmission. It's not worth it.
