Subject: Changing My Tires

Message:
My 2000 Dakota came with the upgraded 15 x 8 rims and the 255/65 15's on it... the Goodyear LS's are crap and will have to be replaced shortly even though they have only 20,000 miles or so on them. I don't drive the truck hard and have been told by several tire dealers (including a Goodyear dealer) that they just don't last. So needless to say a change has to be made...

So, being as the tire is such a weird size and I don't want to change the computer I have two options: upsize to 275/60's or go down to 235/70's... right now I'm looking at downsizing to Michelin LTX M/S...

I'm looking for any input regarding what to do... keep in mind that I live in Canada so I get some snow here in the winter. I know that the 275's will be worse in the snow but how much? Any input is welcome!

First of the Goodyear LS is a eagle performance tire made for a car so you should change them to a truck tire because they are stronger and last longer. Dont down grade your tire size. I have had more success on wider tires in snow i would go with Goodyear HP for your truck because there are a high performance truck tire that does ok in the snow I have Goodyear AT/S and love them but if road noise is not your thing then i would go and get HP or RF-A. The michelins LTX i find are crap for traction. THere like a car tire built like a truck tire. My friend had them on his Jimmie and at 40000 2 needed replacing and the remaining two are close to being bald. Plus they are scary in snow. The one thing i found about the goodyears are there ability to remain soft and perform after siting in super cold temp. Other tires i had like BFG T/A or Bridgestone Dullers seemed to be rock hard and slid until they got to a good temp.
