Subject: Headers: Please Vote! IP: Logged
Message: 03, 5.9, 4x4 QC. Don't trust cotton filters, however, I do have a completely insulated intake directly plumbed into the fender well. Also have a Magnaflow exhaust 3" from cat back. Truck came from factory with one cat only. If installing Gibson headers was just based on the "fun" of the project they'd be on. What I need your vote for is actual gaines and issues of heat and maintenance after the install. Please vote!

Message: I think if you got ceramic coated headers your heat problems would be far less. Much more pricey though. I know Gibsons were pretty good on GenII Daks, not sure on the GenIII stuff though. It sounds like headers would complete your exhaust system, then you can work on a new TB, cams, etc.

Message: I have the Gibson headers on my 03 4.7 AWD and am very pleased with the gains in low end torque. Gibson has a dino showing 10RWHP, but the torque gain has to be at least 20ft.lbs down low. I can hold fith gear towing on hilly terrian much better than before the headers. I generally stay between 1500 and 2000 Rpms. I tend to pull over capacity too.

Message: I installed the ceramic coated PPH headers. Like $650 though. They smelled kinda funny for the first few days as they baked in. They sound flat out MEAN, were fairly easy to install, and woke up the top end nicely. Make sure to re-tighten them religiously for the first few weeks. Mine haven't leaked a bit.
