Message: I want to get a spray in bedliner and have been looking at either Rhino liners or Line-X. If you have tried either or have stories about them both positive and negative please post. Thanks.

Message: I don't have a spray on but I'd also like to get one. I think the stock liner is garbage. I have been looking at herculiner. I have a friend who applied one on his Ram and its really nice. He's very happy, the surface is very nonskid, and he saved quite a bit. It seems to be well worth it if you have the time. It sells for about $100-$120 vs $300 plus to have someone else spray it on.

Message: I put a 3M Duraliner in mine, not pleased. It is peeling and cracking and has turned gray from the sun in a year. Hindsight being 20/20, pay the money for the Rhino lining.
BTW, I put 2 applications on mine with all the 3M prep work and goodies they recommended.

Message: At first, I was pleased, then it started to peel in between the ridges, yes the part that does not get much wear. My biggest disappointment is that it is not very thick. I put 2.25 gallons on and and not close to 1/8 inch even. I have hauled up to 1000 pounds of pea gravel and sand with no adverse affect as well as 300 feet of chain link and poles, again nothing. Just the darn discoloration and peeling.

Message: In my opinion, almost any spray-on bedliner is better than a drop-in plastic liner. Nothing can get behind the spray-on liner to cause rust, and if it gets damaged, a trip to the auto parts store will get you what you need to repair any damage.
I have an Arma spray-on liner. works great. I can't say anything about sun damage because I also have a topper. My only complaint is that it is absolutely not non-skid...stuff slips less than without a liner, but stuff still slips around back there.
A friend has a Rhino spray-on liner in his truck, with no topper or tonneau cover on it. After a few years of abuse, it still does what it is supposed to do, but it has faded a little bit. Downside to the Rhino is cost...when I got my liner about 7 months ago, the Rhino was about $120 more than the Arma (purchased through a deal that my dealer was offering).
Possible downside to any spray-on liner: it absolutely cannot be removed, short of attempting to peel it off or sandblasting it off. Not a downside for me, but for some it might be.

Message: the reason most of you have you liners peel is you donot bother to take the 3 hours or so to pre-sand the truck bed by handto make sure you get it all to give the spray-in liner a chance to "bite" into the paint already there. I have had my 3 year old herculiner, "properly sanded," without any problems but sun fade. 'couse your truck's original paint also has sun fade you just don't notice it cuz all the other trucks also have sun fade.

Message: The Line-X and Rhino professional spray-in liners are a bit more expensive but they are warranted. If you can chip it or peel it, they will fix it. Plus, these liners can be removed by the people that sprayed them in. There are chemicals that do that, however, since they do scuff up the bed before applying this coating, you will have to get your bed repainted should you ever opt to do that. As far as the fade goes, there are now rejuvenators on the market that can make your liners look like brand new again. They are ~$30 a bottle. Your Line-X or Rhino dealer may carry it. Hey, you think the professional spray-ins are expensive, did you watch Crank and Chrome this weekend? Permatech has a "glow in the dark" spray-in liner for ~$1,000.

Message: I got a spray-in liner called "BullHide" in Toronto, and I'm very pleased. It cost $600 CAN
and it's warrantied. I also have a tonnau cover so it doesn't get exposure to the sun, so I don't know if it will fade without one. But it is definitely better than the drop-in plastic liner.

Message: As you can see below, I bought the Wal-mart special roll on liner. I spent a total of $65.00 bucks, for a gallon of product, the application kit,(roller, scuff pad, brush and tray), and a paint stripper pad for a drill(3M product), amke prep work easier. So far I am very pleased, and billybob, is right, if you do not take the xtra time to prep correctly, you will eventually be unhappy with the results. My friend payed $300 + for a Rhino "professional install last year, and now it is peeling, due to not being properly prepped. Easy to apply, hard to prep. I think I spent a little over 4 hours, to ensure the clear was clearly scuffed.Good luck

Message: I had an ARMACOAT spray-in liner put on my
QuadCab for about $350 US.
I have had it on for 1 1/2 years, and it still
looks great. This is based on a hot-spray
system, and the liner can be used the same day
that it is applied. The surface is very hard,
not soft like Rhino Liner.
I would highly recommend this spray-in liner
to anyone looking for one.

Message: I just got a Line-X last week in my 97 CC. It's an over-the-rail, since the factory over-the-rail bedliner had rubbed half the paint off the rails (!) and now it is sealed up with the Line-X. My brother had a Line-X sprayed in his 99 Silverado three years ago and it has held up great. So far, I'm happy with it. BTW, there is a Line-X $20 off coupon in the October issue of MotorTrend (page 109).

Message: hey guys Im a Vortex SPRAY LINER DEALER. I do it part time for now. basically as long as you do the prep right you are ok so it wont peel. I usually spend abtou 3 hours on a truck. i prefer to do 2 trucks a day than to assembly line 5-6 trucks a day. Im all for making $$ but I prefer to have a happy customer with no come backs. so far I had only one come back and that was because he was shoveling dirt out of the truck and started to cut in the liner. I also offer a lifetime warranty, unless its jsut total obvious abuse and I tell the customers that. I havent had one come back yet. I usually charge about 350-450 depending on the truck. small truck 350-400 depending on what they want. the bigger trucks its abotu 400-460 depending on what they want. I can do all sorts of patterns and designs with different colors. usually I sell Black liners although soem customers want to color match.
I offer a lifetime warranty against cracking peeling and nicks and scratches. I also do a free top coat to retard fading. if it fades ill retop coat it. if you mess it up ill respray it. I much rather do it slower and have quality work than to make a lot of $$ and do a crappy job but thats jsut me. .

I used to have a drop in, worked well.
Then I wanted a 'Leer' shell cover, and didn't think it would look good with the shell and dropin.
Got a 'Permatech' spray in, over the rail for $300. LIfetime guarantee, no probs so far.
Looks great and insulates some under my 'Leer' Cap.

Message: Have any of you seen a sprayed-in liner in white? I've got a white '02 QC and don't think the standard dark grayish/black would look very good. Right now I have a Mopar under-rail drop in. Since it has a glossy black appearance, it looks pretty good. Every sprayed-in liner that I've seen has a dull, gray look eventually.

Throw the soft tonneau cover on, frame sits right on the sprayed rail, no paint damage. I'd say the best liner out there. No problems. I've shoveled stone out, hauled block, shingles, etc.

Message: I have a Rhino Liner in my 98 Dakota. Want to keep that glossy look?
This is what I do.
Find yourself a Dollar Store in your area. Go in and buy 6 bottles of Armour All or something simuliar (for a buck a bottle of course). Find yourself a nice tree for shade and spray the bedliner with the Armour All. Let it sit for about 20 minutes and then take an old towel wipe the excess out. Takes roughly an hour to do and the results are nice. I have done this to my truck 2 times this year and my bed liner looks great...and as far as I know doesn't harm the bedliner. Just remember not to sit on the tail gate or you will have Armour All on your pants.
