I know this might sound like a strange question but for those of you who are taller than 6'2" you probably understand. I went and test drove a '04 quad the other day and for me the seat needs to be all the way back so I am comfortable. I ran into the problem that my head room kinda goes away since I end up being right under the piece in the roof that comes down a little. I was trying to figure out if it's possible to modify the seats so that it can be a little bit lower. One thing about this truck was that the seats were not electric so that might have something to do with it but I just want to know if any of you have done something like this.

Try "test sitting" in a dakota with electric seats. My 99 SLT has them and it can go really low to the floor.

Just a thought....

I`m a little over 6 feet tall. I have a power drivers seat but when you lower it the seat tilts too far forward. I wouldn`t mind getting an aftermarket seat that sits a bit lower. Anyone know who makes a good bolt in replacement?

I'm 6'4" and had the same problem when I test drove a new 2001 with bench seat. It was like i was ducking down to look out wind shield. Test drove one with bucket seats and it was just fine, considerable more head room. That's what I ended up buying. Don't know if 2004's are same way or not.

There is also a shortage of feet room in these trucks. If you have big shoes, then dont buy manual trans if you havent tried it first. I wear size 12 and there aint much more room down there.

did you test drive one with electric or manual seats? my dakota seats sit lower (non electric) then the seats in my moms durango (electric). im 6' and fit alot more comfortably in my truck then the durango. i think the eletric adjustable rails add an extra inch or two or three of height.
