I have a 1995 Dakota. My radio just stoped working. I checked the fuses and they are good. Everything else workes. Is there a way to check the radio without taking it out?

....i have had a similar problem in a 1999 SLT 4x4. The fix ? There may be a short of some kind in the radio itself. Try this......disconnect the battery for approx 15 - 30 seconds. Hook it back up. This may reset the radio interiorly. This has occured a few times to me and this works OK. The next step..........get an after market indash CD player. Mine has a 6 disc CD and I want to change to a single disc player. If ya know anyone who wants a 6 disc changer (factory unit) let me know. Good luck with your small problem there....let me know if this works for you !

I seem to recall hearing that most of the Chrysler radios had a bad capacitor design that would eventually fail. It can be repaired, if that is the case, but it would probably be cheaper to get an aftermarket one. They are very easy to install, especially if you use a wiring harness adapter. Hardest part is removing the dash bezel, which really is not that hard.

Crutchfield.com is pretty good, but their prices are not the best. Great customer service though. Other good sites are thezeb.com, ikessound.com and sounddomain.com. I actually bought my current head unit from thezeb. Excellent service, fast shipping and great price. I picked up a Clarion 535. Good HU.
