Subject: Another ball joint ?: replace lowers? IP: Logged
Message: Are most of you replacing both the uppers AND the lowers? Most I've read on the various forums are that the uppers are commonly replaced, but not usually the lowers...and the alignment will need to be re-adjusted once the lowers are replaced right? Thanks for your help!

Message: I will answer you this way. When the dealer checked out the upper and lower ball joints on my truck, both lowers were bad and only one upper.
You shouldn't need an alignment but if you hadn't had one in a while or ever it isn't a bad idea to get one, just make sure whereever you go the alignment rack has been calibrated recently.
2002 QC 4x4 Sport Plus, 4.7L, auto, Patriot Blue, Tire & Handling group, Heavy Duty Service group, Leer cap w/out windows, Mopar Step bars and roof rack, Rhino liner in bed and on step bars, Pace Edwards Power Tailgate lock 3.55 rear, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, all possible fluids are AMSOIL

Message: When the dealer replaced mine, they only did the uppers. I need the 'downers' done now...

Message: I'm a preventative maintenance nut so I replaced all four on my own and got an alignment afterward. Rockauto.com has them for like $40 each.

Message: I change all the 4 ball joint (130.000km=81.000milles), the lower by first time and the upper by second time.
