Message: Hello, i got a quesion, i just bought a 96 dakota 3.9l 5 speed and i hooked it up to the drb and it read misfires in all cylinders. has new wires, cap, rotor, plugs, the plugs are bosch though, i heard that dodges dont run worth a hoot with these. but anyways, it doesnt smoke, its easy to start but it studders when accelarating. i noticed the timing chain making a little chatter but i dont think its jumped. also, when i bought it. the guy said he thought it was a bad valve, i find it hard to believe one valve would make multiple misfires and not smoke. any suggestions?

Message: I would really consider checking out the
timing. I had the same thing and the timing
chain had jumped. I replaced the tming chain
and all was well.

Message: Check Throttle Pos. Sensor
Turn key on only.
TPS is on drivers side of throttle body
probe center wire of connector
measure with meter to ground
at rest should read 0.5 to 0.8
0.7 is optimum but varies
then move throttle slowly to wide open
voltage should [ smoothly] increase to
about 4.0 volts.
If not smooth = this is your problem
= replace..
If (at rest ) voltage is under 0.7 volts
the sensor can be { repositioned ) to
reset to 0.7 , to improve response..
Also - not sure if you have an EGR valve/solenoid
[ at passenger side rear of engine ]
If so it may need cleaning/replacement ??
