Subject: GOOD NEWS about DEALERS & BALLJOINTS IP: Logged
Message: hey guys- i've posted here before about changing ball joints, brakes, rotors, etc. GOOD SITE, thanks for all the info. back!
Brought my 2000 4x4 dakota w/ 60000 mi. into a dealer in wisconsin for a oil change and a ball joint inspection. i knew the ball joints were toast, with the clunking and all the other odd noises, and the excessive play, but i wanted the professionals to SAY so. they came back "yes" there bad, $700 to fix. wow---so hereing from a body shop to call DODGE directly and complain i did. i called the 1-800 number in the back of the dodge owners manual, and complained. said i was i die hard dodge fan to the bone, didn't want to stoop down to a chevy or ford, etc...:) they said the would file a report, i was on the phone about 40 minutes, and finally he came back on and said they would give me assitance in paying, so i asked how much?? he said cheaper than any other place you'll take it. so i set up an appoint for replacement, and the dealer couldn't give me a price over the phone?---so i go in there and state before you do anyuthing i want a price! cuz as we all know we can get guarenteed parts through MOOG at less than $50 per boot, install our self and good to go...so they come back at say $200 deductible for both upper and lower replacement! so as any sucker with not much time or money, i said DO IT! sorry for so long! but call the 1-800 and bitch for more MOPAR parts replacements! I'M OUT!

Message: they just replaced the lower and upper ball joints, not the a-arms. they are Mopar joints, with NO grease zerks. they just drilled off the upper joints and puts bolts in place of the rivets. So if i do have to replace in the future at least the dirty work is done on the uppers!! And go a lifetime guarentee like Moofs or TRW. Good luck!

Message: Currently waiting for my ball-joint replacement.
Dealer said they are going to be replacing the A-Arms and ball joints as a unit, just have to wait for them to get them all in (earliest is end of the month).
Still covered under the extended warranty, with a $100 deductible.
Too bad they won't drill out and put in MOOGs for me.
