Subject: Oxygen sensor removal IP: Logged
Message: I have 107,000 on the odometer of my 93 4x4 Dak with 5.2 and was thinking of replacing my oxygen sensor on my stock exhaust. If anyone has replaced this on their dak, I would appreciate any help. Chiltons says there is some kind of compound on there from the factory and it must be removed when the new sonsor is put on, is this true? I also heard not to use anything like WD-40 or Liquid Wrench to help loosen it because I can damage the new sensor also, is taht true? What can I expect in terms of noticeable performance with the new sensor? They list 2 different pig tail sizes for that sensor so if anyone knows which is the proper one please tell me. Thanks!

Message: Never had a problem with a "compound" on the factory sensor. Looked like any other normal sensor (for and aft were replaced twice...oops).
Just change it out...you'll be fine.
On the pigtail size/length, check yours first to be sure.
