If you've got both sets of heads in one place at one time you will see the major difference straight away. Look at the intake manifold bolts.

The Magnums have a better flow balance and despite smaller valves, are better at all rpm than the old 2.02 valvers til over 5500 rpm in stock form. Porting the Magnums yields even better flow than the old LA's. They will swap, but you need Magnum rockers, Magnum head bolts, longer hollow pushrods (Mopar sells these specifically for the swap), lifters that oil through the pushrods, and you'll need an intake for Magnum engines. Mopar sells 2 types for carb applications, and Edelbrock will be releasing the Performer RPM Air Gap for Magnum carb applications this year.
