Message: I'm sorry to hear your misfortune but That I know, the only things that could cause that, is after a crash or big bump on the road or hot steam
or hot humidity. There is an IC(Integrated Cuircuit) in the stereo that controls almost everything. Like a computer preocessor. That one is kind of sensitive to humidity or high shocks. My wife's stereo did the same thing but after her second accident. and a friend of mine, also but because he had an anti-freeze leak under his dashboard and the hot steam went inside his stereo. So I would look into that, but anyhow you would have to replace it.

Message: COREY:
With the exception of the side mirror controller(extra screw on top),to remove the side panels, you have to:
1-remove two screws on the bottom
2-remove screw behind the door handle
3-remove screw behind the door knob(inside)
4-push the manual lock down and raise the panel about 1/2" up an then out for about 2". this is because if equip with tweeters, you have to disconnect them and also the locking rod.
5-remove the three screws holding the speaker.
Insatllation is the reverse.

Message: Do I have to remove the whole dang dash to access the factory radio? Would someone, anyone please offer some advice as how to remove the factory Infinity radio? Thank you... and now some venting:
My '01 Dakota Factory Premium Infinity CD/Stereo just stopped working... period! Dead as Kelsey's nuts, fuse is good, stereo is dead. Barely 5 years old with 40K miles, never abused... SHEESH, what another sad day for Chrysler Corp, my last and final Dodge or Chrysler anything... ever... promise! My old 93 Dakota with 5.2 liter was the best, these new trucks are girlie cars... once it's out and fixed it's gone, too bad, over and finito!

Message: Remove the 2 phillips screws from under the top of the bezel on the instrument cluster. Remove the 3 torx screws under the bottom edge of the knee bolster panel under the steering column, disconnect the plastic retainer for the parking brake release lever & remove the knee bolster panel. It helps to remove the screws holding the instrument column covers and take both halves of the cover out of the way. Then the dash panel will snap out. Disconnect the climate control, passenger air bag switch and headlight switch connectors and work the panel out of the truck being careful of the hazard switch and be careful not to scratch the instrument panel bezel. Then just remove the 4 screws holding in the radio.

Message: Did you replace it with another Dodge factory radio or aftermarket unit? If you put in another Dodge radio and the system is not working, it's possible the jump start either blew the fuse for the power to the factory amp or it blew the fuse for the radio's memory circuit. Either one or both is possible when jump starting the truck.
If it is an aftermarket unit, be sure to connect the blue/white wire on the new radio to the factory amplifier turn on lead. It is green with a red or orange stripe, and is located in the radio wire harness.
Other than that if the amp and radio have power and the fuses are OK you probably have a shorted speaker wire somewhere. Unplug the radio and check all the speaker wires for continuity to ground. If you fine one it is easier just to run a new speaker wire from the radio to that speaker, rather than spend all day trying to find and repair the short.
