Subject: Rusted Cat Back IP: Logged
Message: I have Dynomax cat back 3" tubing that is hooked up with a 40 series flowmaster. I noticed that the 3" tubing had rusted completely through where the tubing connects to the muffler halfway around. My concern here is that the tubing is curved and rusted out right at the connection. Also, there happens to be a hanger at that location (no longer doing anything because it rusted out). I was wondering if a simple gas station garage would be able to patch this up? Or would I be looking at a new catback and muffler? And also, if anybody can give me an estimate of the work that would be great (I'm at school and don't really have the access to a garage and tools). Thanks

Message: Well, I can't speak for all garages, but I know I could fix it at our place. I can get pre-curved 3" pipe from a truck shop and cut and weld where necessary. Guess you'll just have to shop around. Before I started where I am now, they wouldn't have done it..
