Message: I've heard people swear up and down that they help ALOT because they hold the heat in. Although I have never put heat tape on anything myself, I have thought about it.
I noticed that when I have HEADERS that I can shut off the car/truck and 10 minutes after you can already touch the headers and they are cool. Compare that to stock cast manifolds!
When I DO buy headers for my Dakota, I plan on wrapping them. It holds the heat IN for better flow and also holds the heat in making it better for other nearby components that could get cooked from the heat.

Message: The headders will rot out much quicker. Most manufacturers will tell you not to wrap them.
