Has anyone heard about, or have any experience
with the Tornado Fuel Saver.
It claims to improve fuel economy up to 24%
and increase power 5 - 15 HP by causing
a vortex in the intake system and better
mixing of fuel and air.

A while back either Car and Driver or Motor Trend put one on one of their test trucks. They did a controlled environment test both before and after installation, including 1/4 mile runs. No change to the gas mileage or 1/4 mile time. I don't remember which magazine, when, or what truck they tried it on, but I do remember that it did not do anything for the truck.

Had one on a 93 nissan extended cab along with a K&N air cleaner and if I took out either one there was a noticable performance difference no change in gas milage though.the only reason I didn't install it on the Dakota was because itr was to small in diameter so don't know how it would work. I think in another post someone has installed or was thinking of installing A Airmax intake which should accomplish the same thing only ar a greater cost.

I tried one on an S10. Thank God for the money back guarantee. After extensive testing I got no performance of MPG gains....and they are too light for paper weights. If you want to waste your money, buy a throttle body spacer. At least they are heavy enough to be used for a paper weight.

After viewing this I think we should take it from these unsatisfied customers. The gimmick is intriguing and phony. I have a Ford and always am looking for an edge over zealous wreckless Chevy owners. Not to mention the Japanese 'ghey-car' owners. NOS nitro gas additive totally makes my 302ci remenicent of my 400ci Charger. Well not quite. LOL. That is such a oximoron. More HP!!! Less gas! Better than liquid additives. RIGHT. These octane boosters keep a car clean from cheap gas stations encounters.
Truly: MADMAX
ps thanks guys I almost fell for it.

It is phony. People who think it works are just
psyching themselves out because they just blew
$75 bucks and do not want to feel like a dummy.
I love the informercial though. Their automotive
engineering 'expert' is the garage guy at a
community college in California...not that I have
anything against CC's :) You think they could have
scared up a retired Ford or GM guy if it worked.

I'll trade you a case of muffler bearings (w/grease), some piston return springs, and the connecting rods from a 13B Mazda engine.

Iv'e been watching those info-mercials too and I'm glad I checked the internet before blowing my hard earn money. I have a 89 Nissan P/U and try to keep it up. I get about 28 hwy and thought maybe this thing could increase my mileage. After seeing what other people have said, I think I'll tell my son because he's been thinking about getting it. Another reap-off where the consumer gets poorer and the inventer gets richer. Thanks guys for the comments. Ed

HI,
Read all the posts and you will get a good idea
that this product is a joke. Just think about.
Something potentially worth billions is in the hands of a guy in california who plays with two
soda bottles on cable at midnight. Their 'test'
results are easily faked.

My buddy is a brain in chemical engineering, fluid
dynamics and such and we laughed when we watched
the infomercial.
1.If anything, the stable fins will actually
restrict air flow, because the air has to bounce
off of them and change direction.
2. The air may be tornado like if installed
directly before a crburator in a downward
direction. Have a look in the intake of your
truck, there is no way the effect will stay
tornado like for any length of time.
3. Older cars with TB injection may see a gain
but...
What a joke!!

I'm happy to discount this little magic marketing wonder myself. But, I will say that under the properly engineered circumstances, I could see it improving airflow, the same way fluid will flow faster through a funnel if allowed to spiral. I have to wonder why Jaguar engineered one into the intake of every AJ8 engine. Seriously, between the filter and the throttle, there is a composite cyclone. Perhaps it is there to create turbulence for the mass flow sensor? All I know is the engine in my XJ8 makes almost 300 hp, and thats a lot for a 3.9 litre v8.

It's like all the other info-mercials on late night tv from exercise equipment to engine oil additives, thier only real purpose in life is to suck the money out of gullable peoples pockets.

Thanks for the info everyone.
I saw the informercial this morning and was pretty intrigued.
I used to design burners for power plants and
we had variable air vein designs to maximize fuel efficiency. Payoffs varied, but you are talking about a LOT more fuel, where a little adds up quickly over a year.
I thought this might have a shot at working, but
you all just saved me $140.
Thanks! :)
