 Subject: tranny and oil fluids

im doing my oil and tranny fluid changes tomorrow for a long trip to the dunes and im switching to the amsoil brand, but i need to know, how much oil does it take to refill my engine, and how much tranny fluid do i need to refill my tranny w/filter change on both?? i have 5 qts of each right now. is that enough?? my book says 21.4 pts of tranny fluid, which makes just over 10.5 qts of fluid, but i dont know of that means 21.4 pts total if you completely flush the tranny, or if its just with the pan drop and filter change. and it says 5 qts of eng oil w/filter change. does this sound right?? i need info asap!! thanks

oh yea, its a '98 5.2 4x4, (not sure which tranny that is)

The tranny is usually 5 quarts for just a pan drop and filter change.

i just dont want to put it on the lift at the shop and drain it and then not have enough to refill it, so is 5 qts accurate for my tranny?

I drained mine for 2 hours, it took 5 1/2 qts to top off. BUy 6 and you should be OK.

1. After refill check oil level
2. With engine automatic transmission operating temperature, shift through all gears. Check fluid level in NEUTRAL and add fluid as needed.
3. Fill no higher than 1/2 to 5/8 inch below fill plug.
