Message: IF ANY ONE HAD THIS EXACT SYMTOM TELL ME WHAT ENDED UP BEING THE PROBLEM. MY ABS & BRAKE LIGHT COME ON AFTER YOU ARE DRIVING AWHILE IN MY 2000 DAKOTA. ONCE THE LIGHT HAS COME ON IT WILL STAY ON UNTIL I SHUT TRUCK OFF. NOW NEXT TIME I DRIVE IT AND START TRUCK THE SYSTEM DOES A CHECK AND EVERYTHING IS OK AND LIGHTS ARE OFF. NOW AFTER I DRIVE A BIT THEY COME ON. WHEN I PUT SCAN TOOL ON IT TELLS ME NO CODES SYSTEM IS OK. BECAUSE I HAVE TO SHUT TRUCK OFF FOR SCAN TOOL AND LIGHTS ARE OFF. SPEEDOMETER WORKS FINE. I REPLACED THE REAR SPEED SENSOR AND THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. ALL BRAKES MECHANICALLY ARE IN GREAT WORKING ORDER. AND FLUID PRESSURE IS GREAT. I CHECKED ALL LIGHTS TO, THEY ARE FINE. SO ANYONE HAVE THESE SYMTOMS???? IF SO I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR WHAT SOLVED YOUR PROBLEM. I DONT THINK IT IS A MODULE PROBLEM. THE LIGHT COMES ON ONLY AFTER TRUCK ROLLS FOR AWHILE, YOU DONT EVEN HAVE TO USE THE BRAKES AND IT COMES ON.
Message: The problem most likely was fixed but the error code is a hard code. It has to be cleared with the Scanner. I had your exact problem. When I took it to the my mechanic they hooked up the scanner it gave a code for the brake light switch, all they did was clear the code and it has never come back. Nothing was done to the brake switch. My ABS lt came on after 40 mph consistantly and would always clear after turning the truck off but once I got to 40 mph back on.
There are allot of things that will give you the code, you may have a CAB unit that has gone bad.
Message: I had the same prom on my 99 c/c 5.2 and it was a sensor at the differential housing. Sensor cost $35 and took about 20 minutes to replace. I cleared the light by clearing the computer by disconnecting the neg battery cable and turning the key to start for 20 seconds or so. Hope this works.
