Message: That means take it in to the dealer so they can sell you something you don't need. The computer turns it on and the dealer turns it off. I remove the bulb. Do what you feel is right.

Message: It may be same as " check engine light " ??
If so , indicating a problem with pollution
from the ECM .
Try key on,off,on,off,on within 5 seconds
( Not too quickly , but not too slow either )
That ' light' should flash out codes for you
3 flashes, pause , 4 flashes = code 34
always in two digits
end with 55 = end of readout
See ' codes ' post on V6 forum for info !

I had the same problem and had my truck diagnosed with "NO
PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER" by an ASE Master Mechanic.
He advised me to remove the bulb.

Message: I had that happen on my 89 Jeep. It means it's "About time" for you to check your oxygen sensor. The light goes on regardless of whether it needs it or not...it's designed to come on around 80,000 miles. Again, have the dealer shut it off or pull the bulb. That's all it is.

Message: My check engine light came on and they told me it was because my gas cap was not properly seated. They reset it and it came back on. There was a miss at idle and the light was on because of an intermittent open cicuit on the purge solonoid. They changed...problem went away. Don't be stupid and take out your bulb, it is there for a reason...spend a couple of bucks and have your truck run right.

Message: It's a factory setting as a reminder of maintenance. Mine has come on twice. Going nearly on 200000 miles. I took it to the dealer. Sure enough no sensors were bad. Just a maintenance reminder. Costs $25 the first time. $50 the second time. I paid it so they could tell the diagnosis. If a sensor was bad I would replace it myself. If you remove the lightbuld you will never know is something really needs attention until it could be too late.

Message: You can pay the dealer, or you can take it to AutoZone and have them read the code for free. If they find no code, just disconnect your battery for 30 min and reconnect it, and that will reset the light. No need to remove the bulb.
