Hey Im going on 16 and am going to get my own truck in the future im seriously looking at Dakotas because my dad has a '92 with the Magnum 4.7L V8 and it will haul A$$. But Im wondering how much I am looking at in price at a '96 Dakota or newer with a lift kit in good condition?

im glad you choose to buy a dakota when you buy your first truck, however the 4.7 didn't exist in 1992, its probably a 5.2. that is a broad spectrum of trucks (96 or newer) look around in the classifieds and autotrader.

Well, my '02 Dakota QC 4.7L Magnum V8 at 12.5 MPG X $1.90/gal currently costs me about $80/month just to drive it's 4500lb carcas 13 miles to work. If I wanted to actually go anywhere to have fun, I'd could easily add another $80/month just to get there. Then, I have to start paying for the fun.
So, if your dad's buying the truck and the gas and you can make some spending money to have some fun, go for the Dakota. Otherwise, pick youself out a nice well-engineered, fuel-efficient, quality-built foreign made model and concentrate more on having some fun.
