I finally droped the tank on my '94 Dakota and replaced the gas gage sending unit and it worked fine for a few miles and now it just shows empty all the time. It still comes to life every once and awile and shows the corect level. What the hell did i do wrong! Droping the tank was a pain i the ass and i don't want to do it again.

How was the wiring connector/s
Also check Ground connection ..
Also there may be a [ "regulator"] on the
back of the fuel gage - acting up.. ??

Ok thanks. I fiddled with the wire conection on the top of the tank yesterday becouse i would not start and and I got it running and the gas gage works again. I either did not get the conection tight or there is some corosion in there. Thanks again "?".

Check the condition of the float.You might need to take it back to where ever you got it.
