I bought my Dakota a little over a month ago. It's a really beautiful truck. However, I'm starting to hate it! After a couple of days I needed to return it as it needed a complete tune-up (plugs, wires, cap, etc.) because of rough running. Then it was having idling problems (fluctuating idle in Park). I returned it again and after they had trouble "diagnosing" it they said that the "throttle-something" needed to be cleaned out. It seemed to run a little better for a while (less than a couple of weeks) and now I'm gonna bring it back again because it's misfiring (hesitating) especially around 30-50 mph. This time I'm dropping it off on one day and let them keep it at least overnight to maybe better diagnose or duplicate problems after sitting. But now when I'm driving it it's almost always hesitating, etc. Course they always ask about engine warning lights and stuff but I'm just not seeing any. When they initially did the tune-up maybe they put in crappy plugs or wires or something, Is that possible? Or maybe one particular plug keeps fouling or something. I don't know. I'm in a state because everyone who sees the truck thinks it's awesome! I hate it when the dealer says they can't find anything wrong. Any ideas out there?
Thanks.

Well, I'm bringing it to them Monday. It seems to be getting worse. Hesitating (misfiring)at all speeds, bucking, you know like it feels like a spark plg is fouled or a wire is loose or something. You know, they initially did a tune-up when it was doing this 48hrs after I bought the truck. And then I brought it back because of the severe fluctuating idle. I don't know if I should tell them (or bring to them)about the special plugs, wires and stuff you recommend. I'm a little extra concerned because if they did a complete tune-up before and now it's happening again, I'm starting to think about valves and internal engine parts. It's over the 30 days/1,000 miles too, and I don't know if the dealer is gonna start steppin' back and not taking responsibility. They seem OK so far, though. I'm gonna expect that once I get it back this time from them, I'll be super vigilant to see that the idle is perfect and it runs totally smooth. I just can't get to like the truck until that happens. I'll let you know what happens.
Thanks.

And they put in a Throttle sensor which apparantly took care of everything. Why they didn't just do that before I don't know. But the truck drives even better than when I test drove it. Anyways, "knock on wood." Hope I don't have any problems for a while. I like my truck again!!!
