i have an 89 dakota sport 4x4 and cant find any type of lift kit for it i have found a 3" body but i want about a 6 in lift. any clues

You may be S.O.L. I know that there are lifts out there for the Rams, for almost, if not, every year. But, for the Dakotas, I think it is pretty much limited to the '97 & newer models.
Pull out the yellow pages & look for local 4x4 shops, or you may want to give 4 Wheel Parts (http://www.4wheelparts.com/) a try. If they have a location near you, it could save you some money on shipping & handling.
(Although, I caught 4WP on a free shipping weekend (combined with a sale), and got a lift kit plus five 33's (for my project FJ40) shipped to my door cheaper than driving the ten miles to the store by me & picking it all up in person.)
