Subject: pop/clunk?? IP: Logged
Message: I have an 04 Quad with about 500 miles on it (See new owner post below) and at slow speeds .. I hear a sound, call it a pop or clunk - it happens straight or turning over small bumps. It only comes from the front left. I am thinking something needs to be greased. Being an 04 I do not think it has the upper ball joint issues of the past since I've read they are using a different supplier. Any ideas/suggestions?

Message: Mine popped at low speeds in tight turns. Turns out they needed to lube the steering bump stops. They did that 6 months ago and it hasn't happened since.

Message: I dunno, when that happened to my 02 quadcab it was the upper balljoints and control arms.

Message: That was actually my first thought but thankfully in my case that wasn't what it was. I still think it's a bit early to tell if the newer 04 ball joints will decrease the failure rate. Not to say that they must have fixed the problem, but I dont think we'll really see enough of a pattern to know for sure until the middle or end of 2005.
